Getting two sketches into Newsjack Series 7 Episode 4

So that credit was not one but two sketches on Newsjack. Mine were the “coping without electricity” sketch (where I was very pleased that the tortoise line got a good laugh) and the “cloning jokes” sketch. Even more exciting, I have been invited into the writer’s room next Tuesday. Which also a bit scary as […]

My Newsjack Series 7 Episode 3 submissions

Rather tired with recording Live from Kirrin Island on Saturday and also trying to get everything sorted for moving house (excuses, excuses!) so only managed to send two rushed sketches and four one liners to Newsjack this week. My sketches were on Ed Milliband trying to get on a TV comedy show like Letterman A […]

From Newsjack to Kirrin Island

Well, normal service was resumed with nothing for me in last nights Newsjack. But on the plus side I have a few jokes I still believe to take to the Kirrin Island writing day! On with the jokes!

Newsjack Series 7 Episode 2 – sketches sent

I’ve sent three sketches to Newsjack again (didn’t manage to write six like I always intend, and rarely do). (Submission guidelines are here in case you haven’t seen them yet – still time for one liners this week.) This week’s sketches were on Andrew Mitchell insulting the police (like everyone I would guess?) Waitrose’s twitter problems […]

And Live from Kirrin Island is back for Episode 2

It’s not just Newsjack that is back! Live from Kirrin Island will be recording in just over two weeks and needs submissions. This excellent writers’ brief says more than I ever could about it. Now there really is no excuse for not writing something topical and funny.

Newsjack is back! Series 7 first submission deadline is 17th September.

Submission guidelines are up on the BBC website. The deadline for one liners is now 4pm on Tuesday. Last series it was 5pm. Don’t get caught out! Otherwise it looks pretty similar to last series submission rules. There is also a page of tips which gives some general pointers and a a reminder of the […]

Taking a short break from topical comedy

The News Revue are off to Edinburgh, Newjack isn’t back until the Autumn, Kirrin Island’s Summer Shorts are in the bag and the Treason Show crew are (I like to imagine anyway) sunning themselves on Brighton beach. So it’s a good time to get off the topical comedy donkey and try to spread my wings […]

4am cab podcast

In case you’d got the impression from the last few weeks that there was only one comedy podcast in existence… 🙂 here is another excellent comedy podcast, totally different from Live from Kirrin Island, 4am cab. In fact (other than being good and funny)  4am cab is about as different from Live from Kirrin Island as you can get […]
